One of our Wholesale Network community members asked me for feedback on his cold call.


So I recorded my full reaction including exactly what I would've said differently at the end of the episode.


Amazon Rewards Top Dogs

Amazon recently changed its compensation structure to reward employees who are habitual top performers.

Receive "Top Tier" performer status for 4 consecutive years and get 110% of your pay.

Receive the lowest performance rating ("Least Effective") and receive no stock bonuses.

Amazon's reasoning for the change: "create stronger financial incentives tied to long-term, consistent performance."

My take: I'm not sure why all companies wouldn't operate this way.

Reward top performance, don't incentivize low performance.

Seems like a no brainer to me?


Tariffs = Prime Day Panic

Some sellers are drastically cutting back on Prime Day promotional spend in response to tariffs.


For most sellers Prime Day is the biggest sales day(s) of the year.


Lightning deals, coupons, BOGO deals, and other promotions are par for the course.


But this year some mega-sellers, like pillow brand MedCline, are ditching Prime Day promotions entirely.


My take: Prime Days have historically been the best opportunity to run massive discounts to acquire customers at break even (or small loss).


But when your COGS go up by 100%+ this strategy isn't viable for 99.9% of brands.


Prime Day will still be a great opportunity for brands to liquidate dead stock, but don't expect deep discounts on their best sellers.
