Brand Direct Leaderboard

Some interesting stories from the Amazon world are in store for this week’s newsletter.

  • 4 online income streams
  • Brand Direct Leaderboard
  • Nike/Amazon partnership
  • Amazon/Walmart pushing USA Made products

Let’s dig in.

4 Income Streams

Many of you may know Kate Humphreys.

She's our head of operations at the Wholesale Network and an active member of the Amazon selling community.

But what most people don't realize is all the ways she makes money online.

In this interview we break down her 4 primary income streams and how she plans to scale them in 2025 and beyond.

Spoiler: selling on Amazon is only one of her income streams, the others may surprise you.

Brand Direct Leaderboard

The smartest Amazon sellers are pivoting hard into brand direct wholesale.

And inside The Wholesale Network we're doubling down on brand direct education and engagement.

One of the ways we're doing this is by launching a community-wide Brand Direct Leaderboard.

Our goal:

Each month we'll recognize the member with the highest number of new brand direct POs placed.

Prizes include Amazon gift cards, TWN swag, a chance to get featured on my podcast, and of course bragging rights.

We've got tons of brand direct resources in the pipeline for our community, this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Nike 🤝 Amazon

I touched on this in last week’s newsletter, but it seems that some new information has come to light.

The summary:

  • Nike will begin selling directly on Amazon, ending a 6-year hiatus
  • Nike announced price increases beginning 6/1 with footwear priced over $150 rising by up to $10
  • The partnership will focus on new releases with older models being added over time

Nike’s sourcing troubles due to tariff uncertainty coupled with rampant counterfeiting on Amazon are two of the biggest reasons for the partnership.

My take: Nike sellers are in for a tough ride. If you only sell Nike, now is the time to start diversifying your inventory.

Made In The USA Is Making A Comeback

Amazon and Walmart are feeling the tariff pressure and are responding with some initiatives to empower US-based businesses.

There’s been a massive surge in “made in USA” searches on both platforms, with Amazon seeing a 220% increase year-over-year.

Walmart launched a “Grow With Us” program to support US small businesses in becoming Walmart suppliers, not just sellers.

My take: there’s still uncertainty around tariffs, and Walmart and Amazon are trying to get ahead of the curve.

While these initiatives are surely PR-motivated, I think we’ll see both platforms push “made in USA” products as long as it serves their interests.

That’s all for this week.
